Your library

How the photos page is laid out and how to sort, search, select and edit many photos at once.

Layout

Your library is one long list in sections. Sorted by date, the sections are months. Sorted by upload, they are upload days. Sorted by title, they are the first letters. This makes the library your timeline as well.

The slider on the right edge jumps straight to a month or letter. While you scroll, a small bubble shows where you are.

Sorting and arranging

Under "View" you choose the sort order: date taken, upload date or title, each with newest or oldest first. You also choose the display: simple grid, grid with details or list. You set the size of the tiles with the zoom.

Filtering

You can limit the library to photos or to videos. Everything else, such as tags, people or places, you find through the search.

The search at the top looks through titles, file names, places, countries, tags, people and notes. You can combine several words as "all must match" or "one is enough". The result is a normal library view: you can select, sort and scroll in it.

For browsing by tags or people there are also the pages Tags and People.

Selecting

Hover over a photo and click the tick to select it. Hold the mouse button and drag across neighbours to select many at once. Shift+click selects a photo directly without opening it. The tick in a section heading selects the whole month.

On your phone, press and hold a photo and then keep dragging to select more.

The selection menu

As soon as something is selected, a menu appears at the bottom. It acts on everything selected at once: favourite, add to album, add to trip chapter, tags, people, change date, change location, download and delete. "Select latest batch" picks everything you uploaded most recently.

Photos without a date

Photos whose date we could only guess carry a calendar symbol. Photos with no clue at all are in the "Without date" section at the end of the library. Set a date with the calendar symbol, or for several photos through the selection menu. They then move into the matching month.

Favourites

The heart on the tile or on the photo page makes a photo a favourite. The "Favourites" page shows all of them together. A second click removes the favourite again.

Keyboard

In the grid, the arrow keys move the focus, Enter opens the photo, the space bar selects it and Escape clears the selection.
