What a trip is
A trip is your travel journal: chapters in order, each with a date, a place, your notes and the photos and videos that belong to it. Together they tell the whole journey from the first day to the last. Shared through a link, a trip reads like a story.
Create a trip
On the trips page, click "New trip" and give it a name. You set the description and cover later on the trip page. On the Free plan you can create 3 trips, on Plus and Studio as many as you like.
Chapters
A chapter is one part of the journey: a day, a city, a hike. It has a name, a date, a place and a journal text that you write directly on the page. Create chapters whenever you like and in any order. We sort them by date.
Photos in a chapter
Drag photos and videos onto a chapter, and they are uploaded and land straight in it. Or select photos from your library and use "Add to trip" in the selection menu. We suggest the chapter whose date matches the photos. A photo can be in several chapters and albums at the same time.
Journal text
The text of a chapter, a trip and an album can be formatted as bold, italic, underlined and as a list. Web addresses become clickable automatically. More under notes.
Map and layout
Chapters with a place appear on the map as a route, with the distance between chapters and in total. With the layout picker you show the timeline alone, the map alone or both side by side. When you scroll through the timeline, the map follows.
Drafts and publishing
Once a trip is shared, every new chapter starts as a draft: you see it, visitors to your link don't. With "Publish" it becomes visible, and anyone subscribed to the trip gets an email. The eye icon next to the chapter name shows its state. You can withdraw a chapter at any time with "Unpublish" and publish it again later.
Share and subscribe
Trips are private until you create a link. You do that in the trip's menu. If you allow subscribing, people with a lumioo account can subscribe to the trip and get an email for every published chapter. All options are described under Sharing.
Duplicate and delete
Trips and chapters can be duplicated. Deleting removes the trip or chapter along with its links; the photos stay in your library.
Old links
Trips used to be called stories. Old links, for example from emails or bookmarks, still lead to the right trip.
